The German European School Singapore (GESS) – situated on a lush green hillside in tropical Singapore - is a private school association led by an elected Board and the school management. We offer education to students aged 18 months  to 18 years. Our German Section, founded in 1971, offers all German school leaving certificates including Abitur and is subsidised by the German Federal Government. Our English-speaking European Section, in operation since 2005, teaches the curricula IB Diploma, Middle Years and Primary Years Programme. Around 1250 students attend our school with more than 270 full and part time employees working at our two campuses.

Teaching Staff

The precise teaching staff requirements are generally known in December before the following academic year. Therefore, we would kindly request you to submit your application for the next academic year in November at the latest. The staffing decisions for regular open positions are undertaken in December and January.

As schools abroad often experience unexpected developments and staff fluctuations,  we welcome applications all year round adding them to our files. As an applicant for teaching positions in the European Section you will have completed your teacher training and have an excellent command of English and computer literacy. Additionally we require PYP, MYP or DP qualifications or experience. Knowledge of German and/or further languages is desirable, however, not necessary for European Section teaching staff.

For the Pre-School Department positions, you should be a qualified Pre-School educator or should have a comparable pedagogical qualification. We welcome your application any time.

If you are passionate about student-centred teaching, highly committed and thrive on contributing to a vibrant school life, you'll enjoy working together with the GESS teaching team. Pastoral care, working together with parents and school development are valued highly.

As many international schools, we naturally offer high quality professional training on a regular basis.

Non-Teaching Staff

Local applications from within Singapore for posts within our administration are welcome from persons of any nationality. They too will be kept on file. Strong computer and language communication skills (German/English) and sales or administrative training and experience are essential. You should enjoy working in a small, flexible and friendly team and thrive in a busy environment.

Application

If you are interested in an open position, please send us your letter of application together with the following items: recent photograph, CV including teaching qualifications, certificates, references and referees to the email address stated in the respective job offer advert, adding the position you are applying for in the subject line.

We are pleased to receive applications from teachers for which there is no specific position posted. We will keep your application on file.  Should you wish to submit an expression of interest application in English please click here and in German here.

We are fortunate to receive a large number of applications and therefore kindly ask for your understanding that only shortlisted candidates will be notified and our response may take a while.

We look forward to hearing from you!
